Rehearsals

The choir meets every Wednesday between 7.30pm and 9.30pm in the Quaker Meeting House, 7, Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2JL. Our next rehearsal is on 22 February 2012.

Rehearsals are lead by our conductor, Seonaid McDonald, who guides us in all aspects of performance and musical interpretation of the songs while Calum Cameron acts as our Gaelic tutor spending time with us learning and practising words. Support materials are supplied such as song translations and sound recordings of both words and music. The choir comprises a complete range of Gaelic speakers from the native to advanced learner to the rusty intermediate and absolute beginner and many find that their Gaelic improves as time goes on.

We are always happy to welcome new members in all vocal ranges. The best way to join is to come along to a couple of rehearsals to find out if you enjoy it. You don't have to be able to read music, although this would be an advantage. We don't hold auditions and you won't be asked to sing on your own, however the final decision about joining the choir rests with the conductor and committee.

Membership of the choir costs £20 per term, the choir year being split into three terms. Payments are due on 1 January, 1 April and 1 August each year. For new members the first term is free.
